Nova Scotia PCs headed to a big majority victory
The latest Abacus Data poll suggests Tim Houston and the NS PCs are going to buck the national trend of incumbents losing vote share.
We are T-2 days until the Nova Scotia provincial election comes to an end and we just released our final poll of the campaign.
We have a new Nova Scotia provincial election poll out this morning. The results indicate that unless something fundamentally changes today or tomorrow, the Nova Scotia PC Party and Tim Houston are headed towards a landslide victory Tuesday night.
We have the PCs ahead by 20-points among all committed eligible voters and leading by 24-points among those who have voted and are the most likely to vote.
The PCs lead in and outside of Halifax, across all age groups, and there is absolutely no gender gap in the results.
What is driving this likely result? Despite NDP leader Claudia Chender having a lot of goodwill and the best net favourable rating, the incumbent PCs benefit from having a relatively popular incumbent leader, they lead on three of the four top election issues (and both of the top two issues), and the desire for change has not reached a level that is a serious threat to them.
We expect to see Tim Houston and the NS PCs re-elected with a larger majority than last time.
